Election Petition Court: Judge tasks petitioners on national interest

Lawyers handling Election Matters at Presidential Elections Petition Court for the 2023 elections have urged consider the interest of Nigeria first before any other thing.

They have also been advised to avoid sensational statements in the court and look at the safety of the country.

The presiding Judge of the Presidential Elections Petition Court Justice Haruna Tsamani gave the advice in a brief remark during the inaugural seating of the court in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.

He drew the attention of the both prosecution and defense counsels to the relevance of matters before them not only on their clients but also Nigerians.

Justice Tsamani who solicited the cooperation of the counsels for a seamless hearing, reminded them that election matters are time bound and should be treated with consideration.

We should avoid unnecessary time wasting of applications since we all know elections matters are time bound.

We should ensure that at the end justice has been done” Justice Tsamani said.

Counsel to President – Elect Ahmed Tinubu Mr. Wole Olanipekun, Mr. Chris Uche for the People’s Democratic party PDP, Mahmood Abubakar for INEC both Senior Advocates of Nigeria promised unflinching support and cooperation for the success of the court.

The members of the Presidential Election Petition Court are, Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani Chairman of The Panel, while Justice Stephen Adah,
Justice Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Justice Moses Ugo and Justice Abba Mohammed are members.
