Elections: INEC takes delivery of sensitive materials in Gombe

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Gombe state has taken delivery of the sensitive materials for the Saturday Governorship and State Assembly Elections.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Gombe State, Mr Umar Ibrahim, said the Commission had received the full complement of the materials for onward transportation to the local government areas and subsequent delivery to the various wards and polling units.

Mr Umar said the reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voter Authentication System Machine, BVAS, had been completed and made ready for use on Saturday, while training of the Supervisory Presiding Officers was ongoing for the effective use of the BVAS.

Similarly, Mr Umar said issues of logistics had been completed and arrangements made for the smooth conduct of the elections.

In the meantime, the Spokespersons for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Moses Kyari and the Spokesperson for the People’s Democratic Party Campaign Council, Mr Ayuba Aluke, all praised the process so far by INEC to receive the sensitive materials and its display before the security and party officials.

Mr Aluke also commended the efforts made by the security agencies to hold an emergency meeting to ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections on Saturday.
