Elections: Osun Governor inaugurates South-West Grassroots Mobilization Team

Ahead of the 2023 General Elections in Nigeria, the Governor of Osun state, South-west Nigeria, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Saturday inaugurated the Grassroots Mobilization and Engagement Team for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The team, tasked with the responsibility of combing the south-west region, is to campaign and win votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
Speaking at the event in Osogbo, the governor noted that the Grassroots Mobilization and Orientation Directorate was the main channel through which the competence of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket could be sold to Nigerians.
He said both Tinubu and Shettima had been tested while managing the affairs of their states as one-time governors and, therefore, could be trusted with those of the nation.
“The Grassroots Mobilization, Engagement and Orientation Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council is the principal channel for the expression of our conviction that reforming Nigeria answers to experience, competence and political will and not primordial considerations.
“We are here as the Omoluabi contingent to support a team that symbolises the competence, integrity and experience required to further transform the nation and take it to the next level.
“We are here to put South-west seal of excellence on a ticket that had been tested and trusted to deliver excellence in the throes of economic downturn in the past. We are here to support the ticket that promises to give renewed hope and sustainable development,” he added.
Governor Oyetola charged members of the team to utilize all lawful and pragmatic means including technology to disseminate their message of renewed hope and sustainable development.
He said their unrelenting passion, unbridled commitment, unparalleled dedication and uncommon sacrifice for the message of renewed hope that they believe in should be their driving force.
“I am persuaded that you are well prepared to coordinate yourselves to ride on the wings of technology and the horse of traditional mobilization to hit the cities and the hinterlands until the last person imbibes the message of renewed hope.
“Indeed, you are the Group through whose voice the message of Renewed Hope will resonate town to town, village to village and door to door.”
The Director, Grassroots Engagement and Orientation Directorate (Southwest), Titi Laoye-Ponle, who spoke earlier, said the team was ready to work for the victory of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
She said every state in the south-west had representation amongst them and were all ready to visit every nook and cranny in the furtherest parts of the southwest to preach their message of Renewed Hope.
“I want to admonish you to work assiduously in canvassing support for Tinubu who has capacity for delivering good governance.
“We are determined to deliver 90 per cent of south-west votes for Asiwaju.
“I know you are all ready to deliver victory for the APC presidential candidate,” she said.
The APC party chairman in Osun state, Prince Gboyega Famodun, also reiterated the competence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to take on the challenges of the country, urging the mobilizers to take the campaign from door-to-door in the South-west.
