The event brought together over 18 tech-driven startups and innovation groups from across the South-East including Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States to showcase cutting-edge ideas in digital technology and innovation.

Speaking at the event, Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr. Lawrence Ezeh, highlighted the state’s growing innovation ecosystem, driven by investment in tech education, digital infrastructure, and strategic partnerships.

“Enugu State is deliberately creating an environment where startups can thrive from concept to scaling,” Dr. Ezeh stated.

He encouraged participants to present their ideas with confidence and clarity, describing the roadshow as a unique platform to engage national tech leaders, investors, and policymakers. “This is your chance to be part of the GITEX Nigeria 2025 journey and possibly, GITEX Global Dubai,” he added.

The Director General of NITDA, Mr. Inuwa Kashifu, represented by Dr. Nkem Momah, Head of NITDA South-East, commended the Enugu State Government for its support in establishing the agency’s regional office and for embracing various technology-focused projects and training initiatives. He noted that the roadshow would continue across other geopolitical zones to harness local digital innovation as a means to address national challenges.

Coordinator of the South-East GITEX Roadshow, Chinyere Otuonye, who is also the CEO of Sparks Ventures Hub, urged startups to focus on building solutions that address real community needs and improve everyday life. She emphasized the transformative potential of Nigerian youth in driving tech innovation, saying it could unlock millions of digital job opportunities and significantly tackle the nation’s development challenges.

The roadshow featured live pitch sessions, with startups presenting innovative solutions aimed at solving local and global issues. Selected winners will receive financial support and development assistance, with at least six promising teams advancing to Lagos or Abuja for further acceleration and potential global exposure.

The GITEX Nigeria 2025 Roadshow forms part of a broader initiative to promote digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and national competitiveness. It also reinforces the Enugu State Government’s commitment to positioning the state as a regional leader in technology and innovation.
