Equities market decline further with N7bn loss

It was another day of loss on the Nigerian equities market on Wednesday as sustained profit taking activity led to declines in major indices on the stock exchange.

 

The market capitalisation of equities shed N7 billion to close at N28,649 trillion from N28,656 trillion on Tuesday while the all-share index dropped 0.02% to close at 52.599.65 points compared to 52,612.55 points recorded on Tuesday.

 

At the end of the day’s trading, a total of 119.84 million shares worth N2.7 billion were traded in 3,552 deals as the market sentiment remained in the positive territory with 21 gainers as against 16 losers.

 

RT Briscoe led the gainers’ chart with 10% price gain to close at N0.33k. Tripple Gee and Co also gained 10% to close at N0.88k just as Chellarams gained 10% to close at N1.65k.
On the other hand, Thomas Wyatt Nigeria topped the losers chart with 9.66% to close at N1.31k, it was followed by Cornerstone Insurance Company with 6.9% loss to close at N0.54k then Geregu Power lost 5.9% to close at N134.00 per share
