The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating infrastructure and boosting economic opportunities in the capital city.
The Minister stated this after he inspected the ongoing provision of engineering infrastructure in Guzape ll, Abuja Nigeria’s Capital.
Wike has also reassured residents of the nation’s capital of completing most of the abandoned infrastructure provision within the City.
During the inspection, Wike explained that the project, designated as A11, Guzape, had been stalled due to lack of funding, but the current administration was determined to complete it.
“We felt that the only way we can create, or make people develop, is to create infrastructure,” he said.

He further explained that the project was part of the government’s efforts to expand Abuja and create more cities, citing the example of Maitama II, which was awarded over 10 years ago.
“Today, by the grace of God, the Federal Executive Council has awarded that job for the provision of engineering infrastructure,” he said.
Compensation
Wike emphasised that the government was committed to compensating and relocating affected communities, citing the Guzape village, where compensation had already been made and relocation was underway.
“Any village that is affected, we always compensate, like the one in C01, at the Guzape village. They were trying to relocate them. Compensation has been made,” he said.
The project is expected to create more opportunities for businesses and individuals, and contribute to the overall development of the FCT.
While addressing the concerns about the impact of infrastructure development on surrounding villages, Wike stated that affected communities would be compensated and relocated.
