The newly sworn-in Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Professor Tunji Olaopa says the commission will partner with intelligence and security agencies to tackle the job racketeering issues confronting the commission.
Prof. Olaopa also said that the new leadership of the FCSC is committed to transparency and accountability as it revamps the institutional values of the Nigerian public service.
The chairman of FCSC stated these at the State House on Wednesday after the swearing-in ceremony of the newly constituted leadership of the Federal Civil Service Commission.
The Chairman of the Civil Service Commission disclosed that as the new federal commissioners assume office they will work as a team to present a new federal civil service that represents the integrity face of the public service.
“So I am disturbed by the whole cash and carry reputation we will do everything possible in collaboration with some of the intelligence and security agencies to make a few scapegoats and communicate a new face for the Civil Service Commission. That will be our first charge and we will all be committed to bringing back institutional values to the public service of Nigeria.
Prof Olaopa expressed worry about the commission’s misplaced identity, adding that by the conception of the FCSC, it is supposed to be a beacon of integrity.
He said that the new leadership will work hard to increase the capability of the Federal Civil Service emphasizing that the newly constituted team will modernise and deploy technology to the service.
“In the civil service commission we will be able to rebrand this commission, we want a commission that represents the integrity face of the civil service. We want a commission that promotes the cherished value of the public service in everything it does.
The allegations of job racketeering are alarming, the commission by its conception is supposed to be a beacon of integrity and those that founded the commission in the glorious days of the service gave the civil service great name”. Prof. Olaopa
“We need to reposition we need to beef up the capability we need to modernise and deploy technology, re-institute professionalism, we need to move the civil service to a position where it could help the government deliver and that we are poised to be able to do.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore in the newly constituted Federal Commissioners and the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission on Wednesday.
