FIBA AfroBasket: D’Tigers to play final round qualifiers in Tunisia

Nigeria’s D’Tigers will play their remaining matches of the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 Qualifiers in Monastir as FIBA Regional Office Africa confirmed Tunisia and Cameroon as venues for the final round of matches.

After successfully holding the second phase of the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 Qualifiers in November, the third and last window will also be organised as protected environment tournaments to ensure health and safety of all participants.

All remaining games of the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 Qualifiers will take place during this final window from February 17 to 21, 2021.

The Second Round of Groups A, D and E will take place in Monastir while Groups B and C will be played in Yaounde from February 19 to 21.

Nigeria will face South Sudan, Mali and Rwanda in Group D as D’Tigers remained unbeaten after dominating the second round in Rwanda in November 2020.

This year’s AfroBasket Qualifiers return to Yaounde for a second time after the central African country hosted the First Round of Group C in February 2020.

The national teams that finish in the first three places of each group qualify for the 30thedition of Africa’s premier basketball competition, which will take place in the Rwandan capital of Kigali from August 24 to September 5.

Meanwhile, Nigeria is among the four countries bidding to host the Final Phase of the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2021 which will take place from September 17 to 26, 2021. Others are Cameroon, Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire.
