First Lady Seeks More Empowerment For Rural Dwellers

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu is seeking more support and empowerment for rural Dwellers in the country.

She made the call in a message commemorating the 2025 World Rural Development Day.

The First Lady said rural communities are the bedrock of development and so, cannot be left behind in the distribution of social amenities.

She said: “Today, on World Rural Development Day 2025, with the theme “Rural Development: Resilience to Global Change,” speaks aptly to the heart of the challenges faced by the nations of the World.

“Rural communities are the bedrock upon which lasting national development is built. Therefore, we need to empower our rural populations to adapt and thrive in the face of the growing challenges of climate change, economic uncertainty, and communal conflicts.”

Mrs Tinubu called for collaboration among all stakeholders especially the well-to-do in the society, in uplifting the living standards of the rural population. 

“Let us work together to ensure that no community is left behind as we build a stronger, more resilient Nigeria. Happy World Rural Development Day!,” she added.
