Flood: Ebonyi Government, NEMA Takes Disaster Risk Management Campaign To Grassroots

The Government of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, in Collaboration with National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has joined forces together to ensure the flood warnings from Nigeria Meteorological Agency.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru Represented by the State Commissioner for Human Capital Development Mrs Ann Aligwe said the program is Apt because this early warning about flooding will go a long way to mitigate the negative effects on the good people of the State.

It’s part of our leadership mantra which is ‘people’s charter of needs’ which is bent in making sure that no Ebonyi Man or woman suffer any flood related problem in the State”. She said.

The Executive Secretary Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency, Ovuoba Clement said the essence of the Stakeholders meeting was to enable all and sundry to take ahead precautions on the expected flooding predicted to occur in many states in Nigeria including Ebonyi this year, 2025.

The Director General, (DG) National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Zubaida Umar,

Represented by Zonal Director , Wilson Brandon said Nigerians has suffered injuries and pains caused by flooding and other related issues.

The DG said NEMA has strategized to reduce the impact of the flood by campaigning from one State another, more especially those states where it has been identified and predicted as flooding areas this year.
