Speaking to the Nigerian Ambassador, Abubakar Danlami Ibrahim, President Ali noted the great importance his country places on food security and, therefore, asked the Ambassador to interact with government officials from key sectors and private sector players to advance the partnership.

President Ali also disclosed that Guyana would be hosting an Agri-Investment Conference and Expo later in May, asking the Nigerian Ambassador to use the occasion to identify specific areas of agriculture cooperation and investment.

“We should not ignore what can be achieved collectively.

“Guyana is on a path of economic transformation and diversification leading to sustainable development.

“We recognize that if we want to achieve sustainable development as a developing country, one of the things we must tackle first is food security.

“It is my hope that we could embark upon a practical programme of bilateral cooperation in this and other areas for the mutual benefit of our peoples,” said President Ali.
