Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), has stressed the importance of citizen engagement in building a credible media system to counter misinformation and terrorist propaganda.
He disclosed this at a media forum organised by Voice of Nigeria, the 2025 VON Forum
According to him, engaging the public is vital to counter misinformation and dismantle terrorist propaganda.
Buratai highlighted the need for impactful policies that resonate across the nation, expressing hope that such efforts will lead to meaningful change and a better Nigeria.

He stressed that terrorists must be defeated not only on the battlefield but also in the media space, as this is crucial for societal growth and stability.
He also commended the director general of Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba Ndace, for his extensive media experience, noting that more programmes will be introduced to improve society and foster national unity.
