A former House of Representatives candidate for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency (in Kwara State) under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 2023 election, Hassan Oyeleke, has dumped the PDP and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyeleke announced this via an official release personally issued:
“I, Hon. (Dr.) Hassan Oyeyemi Oyeleke, will like to inform the general public that I have taken a bold decision to end my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) after wide consultations.
“Those who are well acquainted with my political history will agree with me that this is actually ‘a home-coming for me’.
“Analytically, I was a member and candidate under the platform of the Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I had been known for my commitment to progressive ideas over the years and I had later emerged as an opposition member in the State House of Assembly.

“I thank all the leaders and members of my former party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the support that I enjoyed whilst I was a member of the party.

“My decision to ‘return home’ was born out of good faith and in the best interest of my supporters, loyalists, local, State and federal constituencies.
“I look forward to receiving a warm welcome from members of my new party, APC, at all levels.
“I will be on the same page with the APC stakeholders in our ardent desire to foster the liberty, prosperity and happiness of our people in continuity to advance the cause of greatness and progress.
“I will like to use this medium to thank the leader of our party in the State, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdul Razaq, for welcoming me with open arms. I am really grateful.
“Let me also seek this medium to congratulate him on his emergence as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum. This was no doubt done in recognition of his tremendous performance, great qualities and dedication to Kwara State and Nigeria at large. It was a well-deserved recognition because he is well suited for the job. He has actually done Kwara State proud.
“Thank you all and may Nigeria be great always.”
