Forum declares support for Nasarawa State Assembly Speaker

The Forum of Overseers of Development Areas in Nasarawa State has declared its support for Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi as the Speaker of the state’s Seventh Assembly.

Mr Mohammed Haruna, the Chairman of the forum and Overseer of Lafia East Development Area declared their support when he led other members on a solidarity visit to the Speaker in Lafia on Monday.

He said that the visit was to identify with and congratulate Abdullahi on his victory as the speaker of the seventh Assembly in the state.

“We are here to identify and congratulate you on your victory as the Speaker of the Seventh Assembly.

“We are happy to have you as our Speaker again, considering your track records of achievements as the Speaker of the 5th and 6th Assembly in the state.

“We are solidly behind you and we are 100 per cent by your side,” he said.

The chairman assured the speaker of their loyalty and support at all times.

Haruna prayed for more of God’s wisdom, protection and blessings to the speaker and the legislature.

He commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for releasing funds for development projects in the development areas.

The overseer wished members of the state assembly a happy and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

He, however, appealed to Abdullahi to ensure that more funds were released to the development areas to enable them to execute more people’s oriented projects.

Responding, the speaker appreciated the forum for the solidarity visit and assured them of his support at all times.

“I am honoured by your visit. I appreciate you all for identifying and standing behind me.

“I am indeed very grateful by this visit as it has further demonstrated our good working relationship in the state,” he said.

Abdullahi also Sule for sustaining peace in the state and his developmental initiatives which has improved the lives of the people of the state.

“His Excellency, Gov.Abdullahi Sule is a person that have passion, love and care for the state.

“Nasarawa State is among the few states in the federation that is peaceful because of His Excellency’s leadership qualities,” he said.

However, the speaker regretted that some people in the state are fighting the governor for reasons best known to them, stressing that God is there.

“But our consolation is that majority of the people of the state are happy and are behind His Excellency.

“Gov. Sule believes in transparency and accountability as this is a leader that doesn’t want corruption.

“We thank God for bringing Gov. Sule to us as governor for another term in the state,” he said.

Abdullahi urged the Overseers to emulate the governor by ensuring transparency and accountability in project execution.

“I implore you to please listen to your people and do what they want in the interest of peace and development.

“I also urge you to continue to perform your duties without fear or favour and for the benefit of our people,” the speaker said.

Abdullahi assured the forum of his readiness to talk to the executive to release more funds for developmental projects in rural areas.
