Foundation takes free medical outreach to 5,000 Rivers resident

No fewer than 5,000 persons in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have benefited from a free medical outreach organized by the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation. Speaking at the 38th free medical mission where the people received treatment, Chairman of the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, Dr Seinye Lulu-Briggs, called on organisations and individuals to assist people in need of healthcare. He also added that good health and quality healthcare will boost individual and national productivity.

Lulu-Briggs said, “The importance of good health to boosting individual and national productivity cannot be overemphasised. There is a need for more work to be done to provide quality healthcare for Nigerians. I also want to ask individuals and companies with the means to assist people in need of care or to partner with the foundation,” he said.

According to a statement released by the foundation, the medical mission which featured counselling/health education, outpatient consultations, general surgeries, pediatric care, and dental care, was held at the Model Primary Healthcare Centre, Ikuru Town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

“Other services rendered during the mission were vision care (including glasses and surgery), malaria testing and treatment, HIV/AIDs screening, physiotherapy, and an onsite pharmacy and laboratory. The Foundation’s medical team conducted 132 surgeries and distributed 780 eyeglasses to beneficiaries during the five-day mission,” it read.

It appreciated its partners including Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board, the executive council of Andoni LGA, the Okaan-Ama of Ikuru Town, King (Dr) Aaron Miller Ikuru, and his chiefs.
