The German Federal Police has donated forty (40) Motorola DP4801E radios to the Nigeria Immigration Service as part of the ongoing international cooperation and capacity building efforts.
In a statement by the German Embassy in Nigeria, the handover goes beyond a mere donation of equipment, rather it is a testament to Germany’s longstanding support and continuously growing security partnership with Nigeria.
The statement also noted that: “The key goals of the donation include: Enhancing border security Boosting operational efficiency by improving surveillance Strengthening crisis response and disaster preparedness Improving migration control.”
“These advanced security communication devices incorporate modern features that facilitate efficient operations,” he stated.
According to the Press Counsellor of the German Embassy in Abuja, Mr. Felix Haala, “Security partnership is a very important pillar and the German government is committed to remaining a partner with a shared goal of enhancing border security, boosting operational efficiency by improving surveillance, strengthening crisis response and disaster preparedness and improving migration control.”
The donation is part of a yearly exercise carried out by the German Federal Police on behalf of the German government.
It also forms a vital part of the multifaceted approach that supports the existing bilateral partnership, which encompasses training, equipment support, intelligence sharing and institutional capacity building.
