The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAR YANMA, Major General Mayirenso Saraso, has emphasised the importance of tactical-level execution in achieving strategic military objectives.
He stated this while receiving the Defence Headquarters Committee on the Review of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Joint Defence Doctrine at the 1 Division Headquarters in Kaduna.

A statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Shuaibu Umar, quoted the GOC as noting that the Division’s initial input was largely based on a draft doctrine, which may have limited the scope of discussion the team sought to refine.
The committee, led by Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Amin Isah, was mandated by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to engage with field commanders and review the 2017 Joint Defence Document, which is now long overdue for an update.

Isah said the review would also examine potential gaps in training, equipment, discipline, leadership, recruitment, and intelligence gathering, to reflect modern warfare realities and incorporate new technologies into joint operations.
Meanwhile, the GOC also received executive members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) at the Division Headquarters.
Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of NIPR, Mr Haroun Malami, who led the delegation, noted that the Institute is a member of the Global Alliance for Communication — a federation of professional bodies headquartered in Switzerland, with over 360 members across 126 countries.
He said the visit would foster deeper collaboration and more mutually beneficial relationships between the military and the communications body.
The GOC, represented by the Division’s Chief of Staff, Brigadier General David Nwakonobi, welcomed the partnership and commended the Kaduna Chapter’s hosting of the upcoming 3rd Nigerian Public Relations Week and 63rd Annual General Meeting and Conference, scheduled for Monday 20th to Friday 24th April 2026 in Kaduna.
Highlights of both visits included an interactive session, presentation of briefs, and exchange of souvenirs.
