The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Gombe State has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the immediate past governor of the state, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, during his recent visit to the state.

Speaking with journalists in Gombe, Mr. Moses Kyari said the Gombe APC noted with delight how Dankwambo came in through the Gombe International Airport and proceeded to the PDP secretariat in the state along with his supporters and other chieftains peacefully.

Recall that Dr. Dankwambo, since May 29, 2019, had been away from Gombe for almost three years and returned to the state peacefully on Saturday.

“During Dankwambo’s visit, we observed his supporters peacefully conducting themselves.

“His conduct was a sharp contrast to other Abuja-based politicians of the opposition, PDP, such as former Governor, Senator Danjuma Goje, and Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, whose visits to Gombe caused a lot of mayhem and destruction within the state capital,” said Mr. Kyari.

He said the party noted with delight that the state did not notice a severe breach of public peace at the former governor’s arrival.

“Although Dankwambo was visiting Gombe for the first time since he left office as governor, we sincerely commend Dankwambo for conducting himself in a manner befitting a man of his status and conviction,” said Mr. Kyari.

He said the party equally commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for also showing uncommon statesmanship in his usual character of peaceful disposition by shelving his earlier scheduled function on the same Saturday, April 1, in the state capital at APC Square, which coincided with Dankwambo’s visit, to guard against any clash by rival groups.

Mr. Kyari said this was highly commendable and showed how accommodating, generous, and tolerant Governor Yahaya was.

He also conveyed the commendation of the party for the peaceful conduct of the teeming PDP party supporters. They remained calm and maintained decorum during Dankwambo’s visit, which indicated the peaceful nature of the state’s people in the face of provocation.

“His conduct is also a testimony of the peaceful nature of our party,” Mr. Kyari said.

He, therefore, called on Gombe politicians, particularly aspirants of the opposition in the state, to take a cue from Governor Yahaya. The latter preaches and practices politics of all inclusion and jealously guards the peace the state is enjoying.
