Gombe Gov’t Approves Construction of Ultra-modern State Complexes

The Gombe State Executive Council has approved the sum of 43.130 billion naira, for the construction of an ultra-modern Three-Arms-Zone in Gombe.

The complex will comprise the Governor’s residence, the State High Court and the House of Assembly.

Briefing Journalists on the memo approved by the State Executive Council, which was presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Commissioner for Information, Mr Tilde Mijiyanwa, said the approval went through meticulous scrutiny by the council.

Council approved for N14b High Court complex, N14b for House of Assembly Complex, N10.4b for roads, there is ultra-modern governor’s residence of about N15b.”

Explaining further, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Mr Usman Kallamu, said the ultra-modern High Court would gulp 14 billion, while the House of Assembly would cost 14.23 billion naira and the Governor’s residence would take 14.9 billion naira.

He said with the approval, construction work would commence in earnest.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Information said the council also approved another 10 billion naira for the construction of 77-kilometre roads in four Local Government Areas of the state.

The Commissioner for Works said LGAs to benefit are Kwami, Funakaye Nafada, Yalmatu Deba.

Similarly, the Gombe State Executive Council meeting approved the construction of the Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps offices accommodation.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Abdullahi Bello, lauded the governor for approving the construction of the office accommodations, promising that there would be improved security in the state.

The office will be built in the town and we assure residents that it will help Operation Hattara to be more committed to providing security,” Mr Bello said.

Secondary examination fee payment

The Gombe State Executive Council also approved the sum of 549.4 million naira for the payment of fees for various national secondary examinations.

With this over 19,840 students across 151 senior secondary schools will be sponsored to write the examination in the West Africa Examinations Council, National Business and Technical Examination Board and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Out of the number, 18, 288 will sit for the WAEC examination, 1, 243 will sit for the National Business and Technical Examination Board and the remaining 309 will sit for the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies exam.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr Aishatu Maigari, said the beneficiaries were selected based on their performances during the mock examination since the inception of Governor Yahaya’s Administration in 2019.

Dr Maigari said the students included both indigenous students and those on exchange programmes from other states, which was a show of magnanimity of the Governor for the students on exchange programme.
