Gombe: Police launches free Medical Outreach Programme

As part of activities to mark the maiden National Police Day Celebration in Gombe State, the Police Command is providing free medical outreach programme aimed at improving public health and strengthening ties between the Nigeria Police Force and communities.

The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Yahaya encouraged all residents to take advantage of the opportunity.

The community outreach underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to not only protect lives and property but also to promote the well-being of citizens.

The command says that with the free medical service, the command is demonstrating the compassionate and humanitarian side of policing, in line with the vision of a people-centered force, adding that the programme is in collaboration with qualified health professionals

The free medical services to members of the public,includes blood pressure screenings, blood sugar test, H.I.V test, hepatitis B And C testing, distribution of essential medications, and health education.

This humanitarian initiative is taking place at two key locations in Gombe state; in front of the Emir of Gombe’s Palace, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III and at the Gombe Police Barracks, Gombe.

Community Outreach/Stakeholder Town-Hall Meeting

In a related development, the State Police Command hosted a Community Outreach and Stakeholder Town-Hall Meeting aimed at fostering stronger collaboration between law enforcement and the public.

Tagged “Community and the Police: Fostering Deeper Public Participation for Effective Service Delivery,” the event targeted at promoting trust, transparency, and active community involvement in policing efforts.

CP Bello Yahaya, the Commissioner of Police, expressed gratitude to all participants and affirmed the command’s dedication to continuous dialogue and partnership with the community to enhance security in the state.

In a keynote address, Ali Adamu Boderi, the Provost of the Federal College of Education(T), Gombe, provided valuable insights into the importance of deepening Public participation in security matters to achieve a more inclusive and efficient police service.

Similarly, a panel discussion featuring security experts, community leaders, Religious leaders (CAN and JNI), Nigerian Bar Association, Civil Society Organisation and Police Community Relations Committee, provided an opportunity for deliberation on practical strategies for fostering a more collaborative police-public relationship.

The event which was chaired by CP Muhammad Wakili (Retired) a law enforcement veteran concluded with an interactive session, allowing participants to voice-out their concerns, ask questions, and engage directly with senior police officers.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Yahaya, extended his appreciation to all stakeholders, security experts, and community members for their active participation, saying the outcomes of this engagement would contribute to shaping policies and initiatives that will enhance safety and security in Gombe State.
