The 21-man Reconciliation Committee constituted to resolve all grievances that arose from the congresses and primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gombe State has submitted its report to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

Receiving the report, Governor Yahaya said; ”Inspite of the seeming delay in the submission of the report, the party in the state was able to reimburse the State Assembly aspirants across the State and his administration has granted appointment to some of them who lost out at the primaries.”

Governor Yahaya said he was happy that no aggrieved member of the APC in the State had left the party, describing the maturity displayed as ‘an  internalisation of the spirit of sportsmanship for the greater good of the party, the state and democracy.  ‘

No defined ideology
He, however, regretted that some politicians ventured into the game without a clearly defined ideology to ferry them into the leadership recruitment process.

The Governor said; “I can say for certain that many Nigerians go into politics not based on political ideology or love for country but for personal interest. This is an apparent dislocation to the system and if we must advance the course of our people then we must turn a new leaf.”

He appealed to leaders at all levels to view leadership from the prism of trust, accountability, integrity and patriotism, explaining that ”their actions can make or mar the development of the society.”

Governor Yahaya further said that in the last three and half years, his administration was able to initiate and implement reformatory policies and executed projects never seen in the history of the State.

The Chairman of the Committee, the Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Jatau explained that the committee met and interacted with all the aspirants at both the State and National Assemblies Primary Elections.

Dr Jatau said expressed satisfaction with the responses of the aspirants which indicated loyalty, solidarity and unshakable resolve to support the APC in the forthcoming General election.

He said aspirants who participated in the State House of Assembly Primary election were full of gratitude to Governor Yahaya for granting them appointment as Special Assistants in addition to their reimbursement.

Dr Jatau was represented by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Waziri.

The Gombe State Governor Yahaya had inaugurated the committee under the Chairmanship of the State Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Jatau, to harmonise and unite the aggrieved members of the APC in the State ahead of 2023 General election.
