The Gombe State Executive Council has approved a three-year Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for onward submission to the State House of Assembly.

The council’s approval paves the way for further legislative deliberation and approval by the state legislature on the strategic financial plan.

The document is also expected to set a strategic roadmap for the financial trajectory of Gombe State in the next three years.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Salihu Baba Alkali, said the framework outlined the state’s anticipated income and expenditure within the broader context of the microeconomic landscape.

He explained the thoroughness of the MTEF’s preparation, which encompasses multifaceted assumptions derived from international, national, regional, and state-level economic dynamics.

He said the assumptions were crafted based on a comprehensive assessment of revenue and expenditure parameters.

In the meantime, the Commissioner of Information and Culture, Mr. Mijinyawa Tilde, who coordinated the briefing, said the approval of the three-year MTEF underscored the state government’s commitment to prudent financial planning and responsible fiscal management.

He said these were aimed at ensuring effective allocation of resources for developmental initiatives and sustainable growth.
