The Gombe State chapter of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has called on Nigerian youths to prioritize peaceful coexistence and express their concerns through lawful and constructive means.
During a press briefing in Gombe to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, the PCRC Chairman, Mr. Garba Mohammed Ubale, emphasized the importance of dialogue as the most effective way to resolve grievances.
He urged youths to avoid violent actions or behaviors that could jeopardize the progress Nigeria has made since its independence in 1960.
Mr. Ubale highlighted the need to reflect on Nigeria’s journey and celebrate its achievements during this significant anniversary.
He stressed the vital role young people play in the state’s development and encouraged them to resist being used as instruments of violence or unrest.
He also mentioned that the committee has been actively engaging with youth groups across the state to promote the importance of peace.
Mr. Ubale commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration and security agencies for their efforts in maintaining Gombe as a safe and crime-free state.
“The best way for youths to support these efforts is by backing peace initiatives. I appreciate the commitment of youth organizations in staying away from protests and avoiding actions that could hinder the state’s progress,” Mr. Ubale said.
He further urged all levels of government to keep communication channels open with young people, strengthen good governance, and create opportunities for youths to achieve their goals.
