Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya says he will give orders for the immediate take-off of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre in Boltongo, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Speaking during the submission of the interim report of the Taskforce on the Establishment of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, the Governor said already, funding had been provided for its take-off.
He said the centre would provide self-discipline, self-reliance and selfless service for the teeming youths of the state, especially in the wake of present challenges in the country, which could be imbibed in their culture.
“To imbibe the culture, the training and training of providing good leadership at all times, it needs to go through a thorough process that our youths have to go through,” said Governor Yahaya.
The Chairman of the Taskforce, Rtd. Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Zubairu Mu’azu, had earlier informed the governor that the name of the institution was a brand name exclusively for the Federal Government, which should either be changed or maintained as an affiliate of the Federal Government institution.
Responding, Governor Yahaya said the issue would be sorted out administratively, but that work should continue for the immediate take-off of the centre, so that at the end, the state would end up gaining.
AIG Mu’azu said the report had recommended that the institution should have a legal framework through a legislative order establishing the institution or formally through the state assembly.
He also said two technical teams were commissioned, one to assist the physical needs of the institution for renovation and building of the female hostel, while the other committee is to advise the main committee on the needed physical training and equipment, as well as structures in the institution before the take-off.
