Governor Fubara Welcomes Rivers Lawmakers to APC

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has formally welcomed members of the National Assembly who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing their decision as courageous, principled, and forward-looking.

Governor Fubara, said the lawmakers’ defection represents a bold commitment to the collective progress of Rivers State and the overall development of Nigeria.

He noted that their action reflects a willingness to place public interest above partisan considerations in order to strengthen governance and deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people.

Those who defected include Senator Allwell Onyesoh, representing Rivers East, and Senator Barinada Mpigi of Rivers South-East as well as members of the House of Representatives: Dumnamene Dekor, Solomon Bob, Cyril Hart, Victor Obuzor, Blessing Amadi, and Felix Nwaeke.

The Governor commended the lawmakers for joining earlier defectors who had already aligned with his administration and the APC, these include Boniface Emerengwa, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, and Boma Goodhead, who moved from the PDP to the APC, as well as Umezuruike Manuchim, who defected from the Labour Party in solidarity with the Rivers State Governor.

Governor Fubara stressed that the latest development goes beyond routine political realignment, describing it as a strong validation of his own earlier decision to join the APC.

According to him, the growing coalition signals the emergence of a united and strategic political front committed to fully integrating Rivers State into the centre of national governance.

He explained that such alignment would place Rivers State in a stronger position to attract federal attention, unlock new opportunities, and accelerate inclusive development while ensuring long-term sustainability across critical sectors of the state’s economy.

The Governor further observed that the expanding support base reflects the visible transformation underway at the national level under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

He said the developments in Rivers State are fully aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises economic reform, infrastructure development, and improved governance.

Expressing confidence in the future, Governor Fubara said the growing unity within the APC in Rivers State would contribute significantly to the success of the President’s ongoing reforms. He reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising broad-based support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Governor concluded by calling on well-meaning people of Rivers State to join the APC, urging them to support what he described as a new era of progressive politics anchored on peace, stability, and unprecedented prosperity for the state and its people.
