By Glory Ohagwu, Abuja

Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure in Akwa Ibom State through strategic projects captured under the ARISE Agenda.

Governor Eno stated this after an unscheduled inspection of the Ibom International Convention Arena, which comprises the Ibom International Convention Centre, Ibom International Hotel, Ibom ARISE Shopping City and the Theme Park.

Addressing journalists after the inspection, the governor described the projects as critical components of the state’s tourism and investment ecosystem.

“This whole area is the Ibom International Convention Arena that comprises the Ibom Convention Centre, the International Hotel, the Ibom Arise Shopping City and the Theme Park. They all constitute the ecosystem here,” he said.

Governor Eno explained that the projects were designed to complement growing tourism and business activities expected from the Victor Attah International Airport.

“The Ibom International Convention Centre can accommodate all kinds of conventions and conferences with over 5,000-seater space with break-out rooms, banquet hall, amphitheatre, and lots more. Then, we also have the 250-room International Hotel to support the ecosystem. The Arise Shopping City project is equally on course. For me, they are all keeping to schedule,” he stated.

Execute Development Projects

The governor expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the various project sites and commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing support that enables sub-national governments to execute developmental projects.

Governor Eno further reiterated that the projects aligned with his administration’s broader economic vision for the state.

“These projects are all part of our vision to position Akwa Ibom as a major destination for tourism, conferences, and investment under the ARISE Agenda,” he said.

He said that the administration remained focused on delivering the projects to stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities for residents.

“We remain committed to completing these projects and putting the necessary infrastructure in place to grow our economy and create more opportunities for our people,” Governor Eno stated.

The inspection team included the Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson, members of the State Executive Council, and other government officials.
