Governor Soludo Advocates Stronger Regional Collaborations to Boost Manufacturing

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo has emphasised the significance of southeastern states harnessing their regional manufacturing capabilities to propel economic growth.

 

He made the call during the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Enugu.

 

Representing Governor Soludo, his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, reiterated the importance of producing competitive products as a catalyst for the country’s economic progress.

Ibezim commended Governor Soludo for his visionary leadership and proactive initiatives to promote economic development in Anambra State, such as the distribution of economic trees to households across the State.

The southeast chairperson of MAN, Ada Chukwudozie, drew attention to the success stories of manufacturing industries in countries like South Korea and Germany, highlighting Nigeria’s potential to reduce its dependence on oil exports through strategic trade agreements, tax incentives, and improved access to financial resources.

 

During the 36th general meeting themed “Revitalising Nigeria’s Economy Through Manufacturing Driven Non-Oil Exports,” esteemed speakers such as Chief Martin Agbaso and Dr. Dakuku Peterside reiterated the importance of exporting high-quality finished products and advocated for government policies that support the growth of the manufacturing sector.

 

The event also featured the presentation of awards, including an Award of Excellence to the Hon. Minister of Labour and Productivity, Nkiru Onyejiocha, and a Leadership Award to the Deputy Governor of Anambra State.

Attendees at the event include; the Deputy Governors of Ebonyi and Enugu State, as well as representatives from Osun and other eastern states, along with the traditional ruler of Onitsha.
