Governor of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has solicited for partnership with the Anambra state Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) in the development of the state.
The governor made the call during a meeting with Executives and Members of ASMATA held in Idemili South Local Council of the state.
The governor stressed the importance of collaborating, especially on generation of Internal Revenue.
He revealed that 99% of the state’s finances are in private hands and the remaining 0.02% are in the hands of Government.
“To make this vision a reality, we will all work together. Government cannot complete the task on its own; each and every one of you must play a part.”
The governor tasked them on maintaining the markets and asked them to report anyone building arbitrarily without permit.
“We’ll start designing contemporary markets with contemporary fire protection systems so that visitors from other states and other parts of the world can be proud of our marketplaces.” Governor Soludo further stressed .
The governor urged all of the ASMATA central Executives and women leaders, both elected and caretakers, to support his party, APGA, in the upcoming election.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna recalled the good work of the governor in the state.
According to him, market vendors will gain the most from road construction the government of Prof Soludo has embarked on, adding that it will reduce traffic and facilitate the movement of goods.
Also, he stated that the market people were happy with the way the Governor was removing touts from the streets and expressed the confidence that in two months, touts would no longer exist in the state.
While pledging their support, the ASMATA Chairman assured the Governor that the market people will cooperate with him to effectively implement his policies.
