The Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo has called for the protection of flood victims in camps across the state
According to her, it is important to keep closer tabs on the hygiene, nutrition and health needs of children, pregnant and nursing mothers in the camps adding that necessary safety measures should be adopted to protect them
The Governor’s Wife praised caregivers at the camps, especially those providing healthcare services, for their dedication and selflessness, and urged them to monitor the dietary needs and sanitary disposition of residents of the centres, as well as the cleanliness of their environments.
Mrs Soludo, who is the Anambra State’s Net Ambassador, also urged those managing the centres to ensure that the occupants regularly sleep under insecticide-treated nets and drink potable water, to prevent the spread of illnesses.
The Governor’s wife reassured them that both the state and federal governments have prioritized the safety and welfare of the displaced persons, adding that it is her prayer and hope that the floods recede soonest so that the affected people could go back safely to their homes.
She also appreciated the efforts by the Anambra State government to make life easier for those affected by the disaster, urging good-spirited persons, community, religious leaders and political representatives, to see this period as another right time to extend a hand of hope to the displaced persons through charity and love.
