Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the Federal Government’s intervention in the completion of the long-abandoned Wuju-Wuju road project in Kano at the cost of ₦47 billion.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
Governor Yusuf made the remarks during the 35th State Executive Council meeting, where he described the project as a critical infrastructure intervention with far-reaching economic and social benefits for Kano residents.
He recalled that the strategic road project was initiated in 2013 during the administration of former Governor, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, but suffered prolonged setbacks over the years, resulting in its abandonment.
According to the Governor, his administration, after a detailed assessment of the project, sought the intervention of the Federal Government to ensure its completion.
He noted that, the request received prompt attention, culminating in the approval of ₦47 billion by the Federal Executive Council for the multi-purpose road project.
Governor Yusuf described President Tinubu’s approval as a clear reflection of responsive leadership and a strong commitment to infrastructural development, particularly in Kano State.
The Governor also singled out the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, for commendation, praising his persistence and effective follow-up from the National Assembly to the Presidential Villa in ensuring the project received final approval.
He said Hon. Bichi remained steadfast from the initial request stage to the eventual approval, safeguarding Kano State’s interests throughout the process.
Governor Yusuf described the lawmaker as a worthy ambassador of Kano State at the National Assembly and urged other federal legislators from the state to emulate his dedication, patriotism, and results-oriented representation, irrespective of political affiliations.
The Governor further acknowledged Hon. Bichi’s role in facilitating other key federal projects for Kano, including the International Conference Centre along Maiduguri Road and the proposed international-standard stadium in Bichi.
He used the occasion to appeal to President Tinubu to approve additional major infrastructure projects for Kano, given its status as one of the most populous state in the country.
He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government to accelerate sustainable development.
Governor Yusuf assured the people of Kano that his government will continue to pursue strategic partnerships that deliver tangible dividends of democracy and lasting infrastructure across the state.
