A group known as the Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP), has called for urgent and community-based sensitization to address rain floods in the country.
NCYP Chairman Isaac Abrak said this when the group paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Hydrological Services Agency, Mr. Umar Mohammad in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He cited the recent incident in Mokwa, Niger State.
The Director General of the National Hydrological Services Agency, Mr. Umar Mohammad, assured the NCYP that the Agency has taken steps to address the situation.

He explained that beginning from next week, more community-based sensitization and enlightenment programmes would be rolled out to ensure Nigerians, especially those residing in flood-prone areas are better informed and involved in preventing activities that worsen the flooding crisis.

He emphasized that while flooding is a natural occurrence, collective responsibility and support for government initiatives can greatly reduce its devastating impact.
The Director General, also urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu’s bold reform initiatives, which are aimed at improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
He added that the President deserves the prayers of all Nigerians for God’s continued guidance in delivering good governance to the people.
