Guber Polls: APC Storms Imo State For Governor Uzodimma

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje will be in Owerri the capital of Imo State on Saturday ahead of the November 11 Imo state governorship election.

Chairman Ganduje will be joined by several APC governors and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to show support for Governor Hope Uzodimma.

This visit comes as a boost to Governor Uzodimma’s campaign efforts as he aims to secure another term in office.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has fixed the governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states for Saturday, November 11, 2023.

The 609-man council is to be led by the Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu.

Governor Uzodimma has been actively campaigning across Imo State highlighting his achievements and presenting his plans for the future.

A released by the APC National Organising Secretary, Alhajj Sulaiman Muhammad Arugungu showed that the National Chairman will inaugurate the campaign council  at Landmark Event Centre Owerri the state capital.

Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru; Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and Minister of State, Labour, Uche Nnaji and Minister of Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, are to serve as Co-Chairmen of the council.

Other members of the council include all members of the party’s administrative organ – the National Working Committee, NWC, Ekiti State governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, former Imo and Abia state governors, Senator Rochas Okorocha and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

Also on the council are Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy, Senator Andy Uba, Senator Tayo Alasoadura and deputy national treasurer, Hon. Omorede Osifo-Marshal, Hon. Julie Okangbe, former Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro, Senator Joy Mordi, Senator Uche Ekwunife, General Azubuike Ihejirika, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Hon. Paul Ikonne among others.

The Imo State governorship election is expected to be fiercely contested with several candidates vying for the position.

However, Governor Uzodimma as the incumbent and the APC flag bearer holds a significant advantage, as his performance in office and the support from the national party leadership are likely to be key factors in determining the outcome of the election.

The visit of Chairman Ganduje and other APC governors to Owerri the state capital  demonstrates the party’s commitment to supporting their candidate and ensuring victory in the forthcoming election.

It also serves as a reminder of the level of importance the ruling party places on securing positions at the state level.

As the election approaches all eyes will be on Imo State as the people decide who will lead them for the next four years.
