Ebonyi State Government, Southeast Nigeria has collaborated with United States Agency for International Development USAID- Integrated Health Program IHP to embark on open maternity in Izhiokoma Primary Health Center in Izzi Local Government Area of the State to improve on general wellbeing of the people of that locality.
The officer in charge of Izhiokoma Primary Health Center, Nwadagba Sabina disclosed this during the healthcare delivery services by Ebonyi State Government in conjunction with USAID-IHP at the Health Center.
Nwadagba said “through the intervention of this program, this health center has been revamped. As I speak to you, there are a lot of good testimonies about Ebonyi State Government and USAID-IHP for coming to the aid of Ndieze Community.
“We still need water and electricity and more facilities in the Health Center”.
Utilisation of healthcare services
The USAID-IHP Integrated Primary Healthcare Advisor, Loveth Chukwura said “the essence of this open maternity day is to educate people on the importance of utilising healthcare services in Primary Health Centers PHC, which is Antenatal care, Delivery and Immunization.
“Family planning; to curb gender based violence and male engagement because men are the major stakeholders in every decision concerning women and children’s health”.
She thanked Ebonyi State Government for partnering with USAID-IHP.
The Assistant Social Mobilisation officer in Izzi Local Government Area of the State, Iteshi Peter said the Local Government played a very important role of mobilising the crowd who are receiving the healthcare provided by Ebonyi State Government in conjunction with USAID-IHP.
Appreciation
The Traditional Ruler of Ndieze Autonomous Community, Eze Ogodo Eze, the Councillor of Ndieze Ndebor Ishiagu ward, Okpulishi Pius and the Town Union President of Ndieze Autonomous Community, Ede Christopher expressed joy respectively over the gesture of Ebonyi State Government and USAID-IHP.
Also, an indigene Esther Nworogbo, whose child was treated during the health program was full of happiness.
She prayed for divine protection of the health workers who have come to their aid.
