NGO trains Women on Skill Acquisition

In commemoration of International Women’s Day, a Non -governmental organization NGO known as Lola Cater for the Needy Foundation in collaboration with Tarian Sanitary pad have trained 100 women on how to make reusable sanitary towel for themselves.

 

The women were mostly internally displaced persons IDPs and community women.

 

According to the founder Lola Cater, Ololade Ogunnubi the essence of the conference is to encourage women and girls to learn how to be self sufficient.

 

She noted that women and girls have a role to play in building a better society, urging them to have confidence in themselves.

 

Ogunubi called on Nigerian government to consider women’s rights and provide policies for their empowerment and protection.

Angela Idalu from the Ministry of women Affairs encouraged Nigerian women to embrace hard work calling on men to carry women along in running the affairs of the country.

 

“Women should be carried along, we are not trying to complete with men but to bridge the gap”, she said.

 

Oluwakemi Areyola from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, called for equality and women inclusion in governance.

 

The women and girls conference which had the theme “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow”, featured lectures on skill acquisition, religious leadership, women in politics, and health talks among others.
