Beninese-French singer and actress Angélique Kidjo is set to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The announcement was made on 2 July 2025, with the multi-Grammy Award winner named among 36 individuals to be recognised with a star on the iconic Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles.
Other notable recipients on the 2025 list include Grammy-winning stars Miley Cyrus, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, The Clark Sisters, and Lyle Lovett.
This milestone makes Kidjo the first African musician to receive a star on the Walk of Fame, a fitting tribute to her enduring legacy as one of Africa’s most celebrated and influential musical figures.
The 64-year-old legend’s career spans over three decades, during which she has released more than 15 albums and earned five Grammy Awards from 15 nominations. She also holds the Guinness World Record for the most global music album awards won at the Grammys.

Kidjo’s music fuses traditional African sounds with international influences, addressing a broad spectrum of themes. Beyond her music, she is a committed activist and pan-Africanist, consistently advocating for unity among people of African descent.
Also featured on the 2025 list is American-French actor Timothée Chalamet, who earned an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of music icon Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
He is joined by Oscar winner Rami Malek, recognised for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, and Marion Cotillard, who received an Academy Award for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose.
Posthumous stars will also be awarded to British director Tony Scott and Italian special effects artist Carlo Rambaldi, both of whom passed away in 2012.
