Former Nigerian Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has commiserated with the people of Mokwa Local Government Area and the entire Niger State over the recent flood disaster that affected the community.
The former military leader gave his condolences when he received a delegation from the Niger State Government, led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, who paid him a Sallah homage at his Uphill Residence in Minna.
General Babangida described the incident in Mokwa as unfortunate, noting that it was ordained by Allah. He urged residents to continue praying for the souls of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
Developmental strides
He commended the administration of Governor Umaru Bago for its developmental strides and called for continuity of such efforts, while assuring of his continued support.
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, said the purpose of the delegation’s visit was to seek the elder statesman’s blessings and fatherly advice.
He noted that the State Government is aware of the General’s deep concern over the Mokwa incident and expressed appreciation for his consistent fatherly role.
Comrade Garba further stated that the people of Niger State and Nigeria at large remain grateful for General Babangida’s dedicated service to the nation, assuring him that the State Government would not let him down as he continues to serve as a pillar of hope for the country.
