The Zumunta Association U.S.A. Incorporation, in partnership with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has announced plans to train 1,000 Nigerian youth in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as part of its 2025 annual convention.
The initiative was unveiled during a press briefing held at NiDCOM headquarters in Abuja.
Targeted at reducing the digital skills gap and youth unemployment, particularly in Nasarawa State, the programme is part of a broader strategy by Zumunta and NiDCOM to empower young Nigerians through technology-driven opportunities.

Chairman of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, represented by the Secretary to the Commission, Dr Sule Yakubu Bassi, described the initiative as a model for diaspora engagement, adding that Nigeria’s future lies in investing in its youthful population.
President of Zumunta U.S.A. Inc., Mr Sunday Bitrus, said the training underscores the Nigerian diaspora’s commitment to national development, particularly in addressing the tech skills deficit among youth.
Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Commissioner for Women and Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Margaret Elayo, welcomed the partnership and described it as the first in a series of youth-focused empowerment efforts.
The 2025 convention will include seven key activities: a three-day free medical outreach, a seven-day ICT training for 1,000 youth, golf and tennis tournaments, a business investment meeting, panel discussions, and a gala and awards night.
