INEC declares Kebbi state governorship election inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared the governorship election in Kebbi state inconclusive over what he described as irregularities which marred elections in 18 local government areas of the state.

The Returning Officer of INEC in Kebbi state, Professor Yusuf Saidu made the declaration on Monday in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

The returning officer said the electoral law gave him the power to declare the results inconclusive.

Kebbi is the first state in the 2023 general election that has declared an inconclusive election.
