INEC declares Uzodimma as winner of Imo Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Hope Uzodimma as the winner of the Imo state gubernatorial election held on Saturday 11th November, 2023.

The INEC Returning Officer for Imo State and the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Professor Abayomi Fashina announced this at exactly 10.09 am on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

According to results announced by Fashina, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hope Uzodimma, got 540, 308, followed by the People’s Democratic Party’s Candidate, Samuel Anyanwu’s 71, 503 while Labour Party, LP’s Athan Achonu came third with a total score of 64,081.

Meanwhile, there was clamour after the election results were announced, mainly from opposing party agents who felt the result failed to reflect what really happened on the field.

Uzodimma Lauds INEC

Reacting to his election victory, the Imo State Governor commended the Electoral Commission for ensuring a fair and neutral electoral process.
