The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is seeking support from political parties to create more polling units nation-wide
The INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu made this known in a consultative meeting with leaders of political parties at INEC Headquarters Abuja on Friday February 5.

The meeting which had in attendance INEC executives, the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, National Commissioners and Secretary to the Commission as well political party leaders was aimed at enabling voter access to polling units.
In his opening address, Professor Yakubu said: “The Commission is of the firm believe that expanding voters access to polling units in Nigeria is crucial to voter turn out. Experience has shown that enhanced voter access increases turn out of voters.
Above all, in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is necessary to decongest polling units to minimise overcrowding.”
