Ini Edo Tasks INEC On Accountability In Akwa Ibom Elections

A renowned Nollywood Actress Ini Edo urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to be accountable and transparent during the result collation in Saturday’s governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
She gave the advise as joined others to vote for her candidates in her home town ward, at unit 2 Awa Iman ward 1, Onna Local government area of Akwa Ibom state, Southern Nigeria.
She stated that what motivated her to vote is her desire for a better Nigeria for everyone.
Ini Edo said; “We demand that power goes to the people who the people have chosen to be in positions of power…We want to be included in politics, we want to be part of the people who decide who seats in power.”
As a representative of the National Democratic Institute and Ambassador for women’s inclusivity in politics, She emphasised the need for women to be given the same opportunities as men in Nigerian politics and have a level playing field in politics.
Speaking onconducts of security personnel, the electoral officers and the citizenry during the gubernatorial elections in her ward, the actress stated that on the whole, the experience in her ward was peaceful.
She commended voters for trooping out in numbers to exercise their civic duties.
The Actress called for continual peace and the need to shun violence, intimidation and bullying during elections.
She spoke about irregularities and the lapses of the process and called on the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC to redeem their image by being transplant.
