Institute Urges Farmers to Test Soil Before cultivation

Professor Saminu Abdulrahman Ibrahim, north east zonal coordinator of the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science (NISS), has urged farmers to test their soil before cultivation to identify acidity or alkalinity.

He discussed the promotion of crop site specific fertiliser blend for grain and legume growth in Northern Nigeria under irrigated system during his speech, on the occasion of Green Field Day at Warji and Sakwa Zaki councils.

According to him, “Rice farmers in Bauchi State’s Warji and Sakwa local governments must always see farming as a necessary development that would battle poverty and promote independence.”

Alhaji Abubakar Jafaru Ilelah, the BSADP program manager, lectured on the importance of applying fertilizer NPK 20 10 10 +2S 1 Z N and pledged to continue launching commendable programs for farmers in the state. He was represented by the director of extension Malam Ya’u Muhammed.
