Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has reassured members of staff of his commitment to their welfare.

The Minister stated this during an extended meeting with the Joint Union Negotiating Council (JUNC) of the Ministry of Interior in Abuja.

Tunji-Ojo also charged members of staff of the Ministry to remain committed to service as the country navigates towards prosperity.

Assuring the union of government’s readiness to support staff welfare, the Minister hammered on the vital need for professionalism and unwavering commitment in the discharge of their duties.

Tunji-Ojo said; “Nothing can be more important to me than your welfare. That’s the truth. And, I have my reasons because to whom much is given, much is expected. If I do not give to you, it is difficult for me to expect you to give back.

“So, if I give you support, it becomes a responsibility on your path to give me support. And, the only way to give me support is by your dedication to duty. The era of people thinking the government’s business is nobody’s business is gone. Government business is your business, and everybody’s business.”

“I have given approval for your training exercise as well as other welfare packages,” the Minister stated.

Speaking on his readiness to work with the union, Tunji-Ojo noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President required dedication to service and the full demonstration of professionalism across the board.

He said; “Please be rest assured that I am with you. We are going to work together, and above all, I want you to be proud as members of staff of the Ministry of Interior.”

In his remarks, the JUNC Chairman, Ukpenetus Bassey appreciated the Minister for his audience and pledged the union’s loyalty to service.
