Muslims have been encouraged to embrace entrepreneurship and self-reliance as a means of economic empowerment and sustainable development.

The call was made by the Imam of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Abuja Branch, and Professor of Islamic History and Ethics at the University of Abuja, Imam Musa Adeyemi, during the presentation of his book titled “Entrepreneurship in Islam: Balancing Profit and Purpose.”

The book aims to guide Muslims on entrepreneurship in line with Islamic teachings, emphasising the need to diversify sources of income while upholding ethical and religious values.

In his remarks, the Guest of Honour at the event, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, commended the depth and relevance of the book, describing it as a valuable resource for modern society in harnessing Nigeria’s economic potential.

He noted that entrepreneurship remains a vital tool for poverty alleviation and aligns with the objectives of the current administration.

“Advanced countries grow their economies through entrepreneurship, and Nigeria is rising. The government is committed to providing the necessary support to enable small businesses to scale up,” he said.

Similarly, the former Governor of Kano State, Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, described the book as timely, urging Muslims to take advantage of the knowledge it offers to address contemporary entrepreneurial challenges.

The author, Professor Musa Adeyemi, explained that entrepreneurship has long been recognised as a powerful driver of innovation and economic prosperity. He stressed that, within Islamic tradition, entrepreneurship transcends the pursuit of profit alone.

He added that the book seeks to present an integrated framework in which financial success and ethical responsibility coexist harmoniously under the guidance of Shariah (Islamic law).
