The Kano State Government in nortwest Nigeria has declared Thursday, June 26, 2025, as a public holiday in commemoration of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf congratulated Muslims across the state for witnessing the beginning of the new Islamic calendar year, which commences with the month of Muharram.
Governor Yusuf urged citizens to use the opportunity to reflect on their deeds over the past year and to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Kano State and the nation at large.

He further reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of the people through transparent, inclusive, and people-centered governance.
