Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule has restated her resolve to enhance the welfare of widows and the vulnerable in the society.
The First Lady made it known in a statement issued by her media Aide, Lamino Ishaq on the commemoration of the 2021 International Widows Day which is celebrated every 23rd June.
According to the First Lady says; “The day is not a day we celebrate but a day of honoring and bringing awareness to the real issues of widowhood, hence the need to always support the widows in the society”.
The need to support the vulnerable especially women and children is the reason Silifat Sule is sponsoring the education and needs of over five hundred orphaned children from across the state.
She has also provided skill acquisition training for widows, orphans, people living with impairment and after the training, provide beneficiaries with take-off grants.
The First Lady through her pet project, Silifat Abdullahi Sule (SAS) Hope Foundation has continued to encourage girl-child education by providing learning materials that increase school enrollment especially for the girl-child.
Silifat Sule remains unrelenting in her commitment to the fight against gender-based violence as well as the right of the girl-child and women.
