The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of its mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
A statement released by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin indicated that results have been released for 11,161 candidates who sat for the exam out of the 96,838 candidates scheduled for the mop-up exercise.
He, however, noted that some candidates failed to access their results because they failed to follow the right instructions, urging them to follow the prescribed instructions by JAMB.
“Candidates who are not able to access their results have been found not to have fully complied with the instruction to send ‘UTMERESULT’ (as one word text) to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number (SIM) used during registration for the UTME.
“JAMB Urges all affected candidates to follow the correct procedure to access their results,” he said.
Dr. Benjamin equally notified that JAMB, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), has apprehended five ringleaders of a syndicate that specialised in producing fake admission letters.
He said the suspects confessed to charging candidates fees to fabricate JAMB admission letters and are currently being prosecuted at the Federal High Court, Abuja in the case Inspector General of Police Vs Effa Leonard and four others.
“Based on confessions, 17,417 candidates were flagged, while 6,903 candidates have been cleared after addressing minor discrepancies, and 10,514 remain under scrutiny. Among them, 5,669 were confirmed to have procured forged letters outright, and 4,832 bypassed procedures by engaging the syndicate.
“Thirteen candidates flagged due to candidate-based anomalies have now been given clearance to reprint their legitimate letters,” he said
According to him, the board further warns 1,532 condoned candidates who claimed ignorance, noting they only escaped sanction because their institutions completed proper condonation processes.
He reiterated the Board’s zero-tolerance for fraud, adding that screening continues, and offenders will be prosecuted under the Examination Malpractices Act, regardless of age or parental involvement.
He enumerated Institutions involved to include BUK, ESUT, FUTA, YABATECH, and University of Ilorin among others.
