Kaduna State Governor Mallam Uba Sani is in Beijing with a high-level federal delegation to finalise a landmark $200 million Model Integrated Poultry Development Project, expected to become the largest poultry hub in West Africa.
The scheme is projected to generate more than $450 million in annual revenue and create about 350,000 direct and indirect jobs across Kaduna State. The visit follows months of discussions in Abuja with China’s ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, and aims to secure firm investment commitments from companies, including China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and other strategic partners.
“The project will strengthen food security, accelerate agro-industrialisation, boost exports and position Kaduna as a leader in modern agribusiness,” a statement from the Kaduna State Government said.
Kaduna’s Commissioner of Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, underscored the broader significance of the mission: “Governor Sani’s engagement in Beijing demonstrates Kaduna’s commitment to strategic partnerships that deliver transformative economic growth. This landmark poultry project will create thousands of jobs, strengthen food security, and position Kaduna as a continental leader in modern agribusiness.”
Governor Sani also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting Kaduna as the pilot site for the initiative and thanked the Chinese government for its sustained partnership.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin later this year.
The Kaduna State Government says it remains committed to attracting world-class investments that drive inclusive growth and expand opportunities for the state’s youth.
