The Kaduna State Government in North-west Nigeria has approved the release of ₦2.321b to settle pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits for retirees and families of deceased civil servants across the state

The disbursement covers two key schemes: Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS): ₦1.736b  for Accrued Rights of 511 retirees and the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS): ₦585m for Gratuities and Death Benefits to 315 pensioners and next-of-kin.

According to the State Commissioner of information Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, “a total of 661 retirees and families across state and local governments will benefit from the payment.”

The Accrued Rights for CPS beneficiaries will be credited directly into their Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs), while DBS pensioners will undergo screening and verification before payment.

Governor Senator Uba Sani reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring dignity for retirees, describing it as a moral responsibility.

This payment brings the total amount disbursed in 2025 to ₦6.678 billion and ₦13.5 billion in the last two years of the administration.

“The welfare of pensioners remains a top priority of the government, and regular payments will continue to ease their hardship.” Ahmed Maiyaki

The Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Pension Bureau, Ibrahim Balarabe stated that “the payment underscores the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the livelihoods of pensioners, upholding their rights, and strengthening the trust of the Kaduna workforce.”

This development highlights the Kaduna State Government’s efforts to prioritise the well-being of its retirees and deceased workers’ families.

The payment is expected to bring relief to the beneficiaries and demonstrate the government’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations.
