Residents of Kano State have called on all tiers of government to intensify efforts to improve healthcare services across public health facilities.

The residents made the call in separate interviews with Voice of Nigeria on Tuesday to mark World Health Day.

They expressed concern over the state of healthcare delivery, stressing the need for decisive action to ensure efficient and accessible medical services.

One of the respondents, Malam Mohammad Inusa, called for increased investment in the health sector, noting that existing efforts remain insufficient to meet rising population demands.

“Government must invest more in healthcare infrastructure, employ qualified personnel, and ensure the availability of essential medical supplies. While efforts have been made, there is still a wide gap in meeting the healthcare needs of our people,” he stressed.

Also speaking, Aisha Badamsi highlighted the need to improve service delivery in public hospitals, particularly in urban areas.

“Access to quality healthcare is still a major challenge, especially in urban centres where hospitals are overstretched. There is an urgent need for intervention to improve service delivery,” she stated.

The residents, however, acknowledged ongoing government initiatives aimed at strengthening the health sector but maintained that more comprehensive measures are required to achieve effective and efficient healthcare services.

They added that improving the healthcare system would enhance citizens’ well-being and support broader socio-economic development in the state.

The annual observance, marked every April 7, raises awareness on critical health issues and promotes actions to improve global well-being.
